Emotionally Attached To A Wall

While many memories you learn to let go of , some deserve a permanent place in your heart . . . or even your kitchen!

For this project, i got the idea of decorating a wall with souvenirs i had kept from a very special date simple because i couldn't find a place for them on my shelves . . .

Storage Space Gets a Quick Makeover

A sprinkle of cinnamon and a hint of honey... Sometimes , a little can do a lot.

This was the effect i imagined for my shelving unit, just a bit of color to liven the dull facade of untreated wood.

I used
  • Flower pattern stencil made from a cardboard cutout
  • Spray paint with a matte finish

Stick some paper tape to hold the loose edges of the pattern together

Place the stencil against the surface and start spray painting. Keep the nozzle at least 15 cm away and make sure to mask your nose and mouth.

Don't worry if you mess it up a little, it's charming :)

Message On a Bottle

Who thinks that wine bottles are gorgeous? I do! You can recycle them into a vase or even a candle holder.

Some of the labels are impossible to peel off but there's something you can do even with the most stubborn ones. All you need are coloring pens , Adele playing in the background and a glass of wine...

Start peeling the label off but do it slowly , we only want to remove the print. I also find it charming when the sides look torn and uneven.

Now get expressive! I chose to color in hearts on one side and scribble lyrics from my favorite Love songs on the other.

Find a nice spot in your house , next to a wall would be great so that you can rotate the bottle to show off the different sides!

Framed Flowers and Pegs

What happens when you can't find the right painting for that frame? Hang an object!

I fell in love with these white Victorian frames from Ikea because of the beautiful contrast they made with my orangy beige walls so i just couldn't allow myself to hang a painting that would distract attention away from the carved details.

I used sticky tack (yep that stuff we used for school projects) , thin rope , two pegs and paper sheets i picked up from a scrap book store. No mess!

DIY Strainer Centerpiece

I moved into my own place for the first time in February and my resolution was unique unique unique :) Growing up i helped my mom decorate the house so i picked up a few tricks along the way.

My first DIY project is this cute centerpiece made from a strainer which was too small and unpractical in the kitchen! I stuck tiny artificial flowers into the tiny holes, added some tape from the inside and voila!
